How to connect multiple prop firm accounts at once in NinjaTrader: running FTMO Futures and FundedNext Futures on a single NinjaTrader [September 2026]

Published: 9/27/2026

Note: these are the exact steps I used on September 27, 2026 to connect FTMO Futures (2 accounts) and FundedNext Futures (1 account) simultaneously on a single NinjaTrader 8. Screen labels in NinjaTrader can differ slightly between versions.

Conclusion

  • One NinjaTrader 8 is all you need. There's no need to install a second copy or set up a separate Windows user
  • There are only 2 things to do: turn on "Multi-provider" in Settings and restart, then add a "NinjaTrader" connection for each firm under Connections → Configure
  • This works between firms that are on the Tradovate side, like FTMO Futures and FundedNext Futures. Firms on the Rithmic side are limited to 1 simultaneous connection per NinjaTrader

Why this setup is needed

Most futures props issue a NinjaTrader username and password specific to that firm when you buy an account.

  • With an FTMO Futures account, logging into NinjaTrader with the credentials FTMO sent you makes it show up under the "Simulation" connection.
  • FundedNext Futures' official help center gives the same steps: "log into NinjaTrader with the username/password FundedNext sent you, and choose Launch under Simulation."

In other words, by default, only the one firm you're logged into shows up in NinjaTrader. To line up a second firm's account on the same screen, you need the setup below.

There are 2 common misconceptions:

  • Installing NinjaTrader twice: on the same PC, NinjaTrader can only run one instance at a time. Reinstalling it just overwrites the existing copy
  • Running two instances under separate Windows users: NinjaTrader's own community forum confirms "NinjaTrader can't run two instances at the same time." If you want to use 2 firms at once, the correct approach is "lining up connections on a single NinjaTrader," below

Steps

1. Turn on Multi-provider

  1. Open Tools → Settings in the NinjaTrader Control Center (Options in older versions)
  2. Check Multi-provider under General and click OK
  3. Restart NinjaTrader. It doesn't take effect until you restart

2. Add a "NinjaTrader" connection for each firm

  1. Open Connections → Configure
  2. Double-click NinjaTrader (NinjaTrader Brokerage) from the list on the left (Available) to add it. Pick this, not the old "Tradovate" connection
  3. On the right, enter the NinjaTrader username and password that firm sent you
  4. Set Account Type to Simulation. Both a prop firm's evaluation account and funded account are simulation accounts
  5. Give it a Connection name you'll recognize, like FundedNext
  6. Click OK to save. Add a 3rd firm and beyond the same way

The account for the firm you logged in with first (FTMO, in this case) already shows up under the "Simulation" connection, so you can leave it as is. If you want it clearly labeled too, you can also create a "NinjaTrader" connection for FTMO and name it FTMO.

3. Connect each connection

  1. Open the Connections menu — the connections you added are listed there
  2. Click each one to connect
  3. You're done once every firm's accounts show up together in the Accounts tab of the Control Center. In this case, FTMO's 2 accounts and FundedNext's 1 account ended up lined up in the same table

Things to watch after connecting

ItemWatch out for
Automated strategiesEnable a strategy one per account. Add the same strategy again on the Strategies tab and switch the Account
Market dataCan be pulled from any connection. If it gets heavy, pick one connection to be the data source
Using the same login on another PCThe older session gets disconnected. When moving to a VPS, disconnect on your local PC first
Timing a migrationEnabling a strategy in 2 places at once double-places orders on the same account. Disable the old one and enable the new one during a period with no open positions
Rithmic-side firmsLimited to 1 simultaneous connection per NinjaTrader. Mixing them with Tradovate-side firms also changes how licensing is handled
Running the same strategy across multiple firmsCheck each firm's terms. FTMO Futures officially allows copying between your own accounts

How much automated trading and VPS use is allowed varies a lot by firm. Check automated-trading rules across 28 futures props.

Recording your P&L automatically

Installing prop-memo's NinjaTrader tracker automatically records the balance and daily P&L of every connected firm's accounts, once a minute. It doesn't place orders. It identifies the firm from the start of the account name, so FTMO (FTMO…) and FundedNext Futures (FNFT…) are told apart with no configuration needed.

FAQ

Q. I can't find Multi-provider

Depending on the NinjaTrader version, the menu is labeled either Settings or Options. Either way, it's under General inside. If you still can't find it, update NinjaTrader to the latest version — older 8.0-series builds can't connect to Tradovate-side accounts.

Q. Are there extra fees?

Between firms on the Tradovate side, no extra license is said to be required. If you mix in a Rithmic-side firm, or connect a live brokerage account (like Interactive Brokers) at the same time, you may need a paid license or an additional add-on.

Q. Is it the same on a VPS?

Yes. Install one copy of NinjaTrader on the VPS and connect every firm using the same steps. Since you only need one NinjaTrader, it doesn't use any extra memory.

To automate trading at a futures prop firm, you can't use an MT5 EA — you need NinjaTrader's NinjaScript, a TradingView alert plus a relay service, or a given firm's API. This article covers the differences between the three approaches, which firms support which one, the exact steps the site owner took to get a NinjaTrader bot running on an FTMO Futures evaluation account, the coding pitfalls that trip people up (bar timing, time zones, forced liquidation, contract months), and the terms-of-service traps to watch for.

A roundup comparing every plan at 6 futures prop firms that officially allow automated trading (FTMO Futures, FundedNext Futures, MyFundedFutures, Lucid Trading, BluSky, FFN) under the same Monte Carlo conditions.
