Forge of Traders operates under a "Manual Execution Only" policy, and the official FAQ explicitly states that using an EA, bot, or script is a hard breach (instant fail). Every trade also has a 40-second minimum hold time, so automated trading isn't viable here. Also note that on funded accounts, the aggregate loss across all simultaneously held positions fails the account instantly once it exceeds 1% of the current balance (confirmed September 27, 2026). If you want to use an EA, look at another firm. Compare EA-friendly firms

- ✓3-Phase starts at $5K for $26, one of the cheapest entry points in the industry
- ✓The first payout can be requested after completing just 1 trading day on a funded account (minimum $50)
- ✓After that, on-demand payouts every 14 days
- ✓No time limit; minimum 3 trading days (don't need to be consecutive; not required on Instant)
- ✓Max loss is static, based on the initial balance (the line doesn't follow you up as you profit)
- ✓On funded accounts, once equity reaches +10%, the max loss line rises to the initial balance once (Equity Lock)
- ✓Even after failing, you can rebuy the same challenge at 90% of list price as many times as you like (Unlimited Restarts)
- ✓Payouts support bank transfer, PayPal, and crypto (USDC/ETH)
-Cons
- ✗⚠️ Automated trading via EAs, bots, or scripts is completely banned (a hard breach). Manual execution only
- ✗⚠️ The cap on total losses across all simultaneously held positions (floating loss plus realized loss from the same window) is 2% of current balance on evaluation accounts and 1% on funded accounts (including Instant). Exceeding it on a funded account fails instantly
- ✗⚠️ Every trade has a 40-second minimum hold time (applies to SL/TP/partial closes too)
- ✗⚠️ No opening or closing ±3 minutes around high-impact news (SL/TP fills count as violations too; lifted with the Swing add-on)
- ✗After Equity Lock triggers, the account is suspended if the balance drops back to the initial balance
- ✗Holding over the weekend requires the Swing add-on (+30%)
- ✗Leverage is low: 1:30 on FX, 1:20 on metals/indices
- ✗Profit split starts at 80% (90% is a +20% add-on)
- ✗Instant is expensive: $3,499 for $100K
- ✗The public pages don't mention a fee refund for 1-Phase, Instant, or 3-Phase (the terms of service say "payments are non-refundable")
- ✗MT5 and cTrader are listed as "coming soon" and aren't usable yet
- ✗Every payout goes through a risk-team behavior review, and there's a discretionary clause letting them deny a payout over things like sudden lot-size changes or revenge trading after a loss
- ✗No Japanese support

FAQ
Is there a consistency rule?
Only during 1-Phase evaluation, with a 50% consistency score: you can't pass if your single best day exceeds 50% of your total profit. It's not a fail — keep trading, and once the ratio comes back down you can pass. 2-Phase, 3-Phase, Instant, and funded accounts have no consistency rule (confirmed in the official FAQ September 27, 2026).
Can I use an EA / automated trading?
No. The official FAQ explicitly states that "using any automated system, including EAs, bots, or scripts, is a hard breach," and every entry and exit must be manual. The comparison table shared across all plans also lists "EAs / News Trading: Not Allowed." If you plan to run an EA, choose a firm that explicitly allows automated trading, such as Fintokei or Funded7.
Can I use this from Japan?
Japan is not on the official site's restricted-country list (about 30 countries including the US, Russia, Iran, and North Korea; confirmed September 27, 2026). There's no Japanese site or Japanese support.
What trading platforms are available?
The official site lists DXtrade, Match-Trader, and Forge of Traders' own proprietary platform as "available." cTrader and MT5 are marked "coming soon" and aren't usable yet (confirmed September 27, 2026).
What is the 40-second rule?
Every trade must be held for at least 40 seconds. This applies not just to manual closes but to every method of closing a position — stop loss, take profit, partial closes, all of it. A violation is treated as a hard breach and gets caught in audits. This is a poor fit for scalping styles that turn trades over in a few seconds to tens of seconds, so be careful.
What is the Maximum Aggregated Risk rule?
This rule totals the loss across every position you hold at the same time. The cap is a percentage of your current balance: 2% on evaluation accounts, 1% on funded accounts (including Instant). It's not just floating loss — realized losses from positions that were open at the same time count too. Exceeding it on a funded account automatically triggers a hard breach and suspends the account. An excess during evaluation is caught during the compliance review before funding, and if confirmed, you won't move on to a funded account. On a funded account you need to keep each stop-loss under 1% (including costs), so this doesn't suit methods that risk 1% or more per trade.
Do I get the fee back?
The only plan where the official pages mention a refund is 2-Phase: 100% of the fee comes back alongside your first payout (Fee Reclaim). The public pages don't mention a refund for 1-Phase, 3-Phase, or Instant, and the terms of service say "payments are non-refundable" (confirmed September 27, 2026). If you fail, you can rebuy the same challenge at 90% of list price as many times as you want (Unlimited Restarts; not available for Instant).
What add-ons are available?
You choose these at checkout. Swing Trading (unlocks weekend holds and news trading, +30%), a profit-split upgrade to 90% (+20%), and 7-Day Reset Protection (if you hard-breach within your first 7 trading days, you're reset to the higher of the previous day's EOD balance or EOD equity, +30%; not available on Instant). Unlimited Restarts (rebuying at 90% of list price after failing) comes at no extra charge.
When and how do I receive payouts?
The first request can be made after completing 1 trading day on a funded account, with a $50 minimum. Your balance must be above the initial balance, all positions and pending orders must be closed, and KYC must be approved. After that, it's every 14 days from your first trade after the previous payout. Payout methods are bank transfer, PayPal, and crypto (USDC and ETH). Every request goes through a risk-team review, usually same-day and up to 72 hours.
How is drawdown calculated?
Daily loss is based on the balance at 21:00 UTC each day (6:00 AM JST, same in summer and winter); the plan's percentage (5% for 1-Phase/2-Phase, 4% for Instant, and 5%→4%→3% across 3-Phase) is subtracted from that to get the next day's floor. It's a breach if your current value, including floating P/L, touches that floor. Max loss is static, fixed to the initial balance, and doesn't rise as you profit. On funded accounts, once equity reaches +10% of the initial balance, the max loss line is raised to the initial balance once (Equity Lock), after which the account is suspended if the balance drops back to the initial balance.
Is the expected value positive?
We have an article that runs a one-year Monte Carlo on 1-Phase, 2-Phase, and Instant. Because of the funded account's 1% aggregate risk rule, staying within the rules limits you to roughly 0.5% per trade. See Forge of Traders' expected value for details.
