DarwinexZero vs Fintokei Full Comparison | An 'Asset Manager' Prop, Broken Down for Japanese Traders

🔄 Update, May 4, 2026: Following feedback from Kuroneko Trader, we significantly revised the point that DarwinIA SILVER is a monthly ranking, so allocation is possible in as little as 2-3 months, and added a section on the Booster program (paid Zero Boosters / free €25k relief slot). The first version's claim that "at least 6 months of track record is required" was misleading, so we've corrected it.

DarwinexZero is not a "prop firm"

Let's start with an important premise. DarwinexZero (DXZ from here on) has a fundamentally different philosophy from what the industry calls a "prop firm."

Regular props like FTMO, Fintokei, and Funded7 work like this:

  • "Pass the challenge → trade the firm's capital → split the profit"

DXZ works like this:

  • "Turn your strategy into a DARWIN asset → raise capital from investors → take a 15% management fee"

In other words, "DXZ is a platform for launching your own small hedge fund," which puts it in a different category of service from "capital providers" like FTMO/Fintokei. You'll sometimes see Japanese prop comparison articles put "DXZ vs FTMO" side by side, but that's like comparing apples and oranges.

This article explains, in contrast with Fintokei — the prop most familiar to Japanese traders — who DXZ fits and who it doesn't.

What is DarwinexZero (basics)

Company overview

ItemDetails
OperatorDarwinex (based in London, UK, regulated by the FCA)
Service launched2022 (DarwinexZero as a standalone product)
Parent company DarwinexA long-established broker operating since 2012
RegulationFCA (UK Financial Conduct Authority)
Trustpilot3.8 / 5.0

Its biggest strength: it operates under FCA regulation. Most props, including Fintokei, are unregulated, whereas DXZ is supervised by a UK financial authority. From a fraud-risk standpoint, that puts it near the top of the industry for peace of mind.

How DXZ works: turning it into profit in 4 steps

Code
[1] Monthly subscription → start trading on a virtual account
↓
[2] DARWIN conversion → your strategy is turned into an asset
↓
[3] DarwinIA evaluation → win capital allocation via the monthly ranking
↓
[4] Profit → you earn 15% of the profit generated from your allocated capital

Step 1: Trade on a virtual account

No real capital is ever at risk. It's virtual trading, but spreads, slippage, and fills all mirror the real market, so the results are genuine.

Step 2: DARWIN conversion

Your trading history is converted into a "DARWIN" asset (an investment product). Darwinex's proprietary risk engine normalizes your strategy's risk to a "monthly VaR of 6.5% (95% confidence interval)."

Step 3: The DarwinIA evaluation program

TierAllocationPeriodTrack record required
DarwinIA SILVER€30,000–€500,0003 monthsEligible right after your DARWIN is created (monthly rating of 75+)
DarwinIA GOLD€50,000–€500,0006 months8+ months, plus annual return >20% and Return/DD >2.5
Max scale€3,000,000—For traders with a long track record

The DarwinIA rating formula:

  • This month's return: 22%
  • Past 5 months + this month's return: 67% (most important)
  • Max DD over the past 6 months: 11%
  • Long-track-record bonus: +1 to +3 points (over 6 months, over 18 months)

Key point: since SILVER runs on a monthly ranking, if you can hit a rating of 75+ in the month-end ranking after your DARWIN is created (roughly 15 days after opening the account), allocation could theoretically start as early as your 2nd or 3rd month. The claim that "you get nothing at all before 6 months" is a misconception — there are real cases of traders receiving their first allocation as early as month 2. That said, a monthly rating of 75+ is by no means easy, and given the existence of the long-track-record bonus, "a stable 6+ months of trading" remains the more solid route. GOLD requires an 8-month track record, so it's impossible to reach in 2-3 months.

Step 4: 15% profit split

If you're allocated €300,000 and generate a 20% annual return (€60,000), your cut is €60,000 × 15% = €9,000.

The Booster program: a realistic path to earlier income

Ranking high in the DarwinIA monthly ranking isn't the only route to monetizing. DXZ has two kinds of "Booster" mechanisms — buying or being granted a virtual capital slot. Using these, you can start earning the 15% management fee early, without waiting for a DarwinIA allocation.

A virtual capital slot you buy outright, usable immediately after DARWIN conversion.

SpecDetails
Virtual capital€25k–€200k (you can hold several sizes at once, up to a €500k cap)

Price range€135 (smallest, 3 months) to €3,575 (largest, 3 years)

Performance fee15% (same as DarwinIA)
HWMIndependent per Booster (keeps the previous high-water mark on reset)
Relationship to standard allocationCan be stacked separately from DarwinIA allocation

If you already have a strategy that wins early, an extra €135 on top of the €38/month subscription instantly gets you €25K in trading capacity. A realistic answer for anyone who doesn't want to wait 6 months.

② Free €25k Booster (relief slot, launched November 2025)

A new program DXZ launched in November 2025. A relief slot for "traders who traded for 6 months and never once received a DarwinIA allocation."

SpecDetails
Allocation€25,000 (free)
Term3 months
Eligibility6+ months of active trading since account creation, with no DarwinIA allocation yet
How it's grantedCoupon auto-issued (must be activated within 40 days)
CautionResetting your account resets the 6-month counter to zero

This functions as a guaranteed floor: "if you just pay the €38/month and keep going for 6 months, you're guaranteed at least a €25K allocation."

A realistic Booster strategy

  • Want capital secured early: buy a €135 Booster → start trading €25K immediately
  • The cautious approach: just pay €38/month and wait 6 months → reliably get the free €25K Booster
  • Already have a track record: stack DarwinIA SILVER (as fast as 2-3 months) with a €200K Booster (can be held at the same time) to maximize your total capacity

DXZ's advantages (strengths Fintokei doesn't have)

① The peace of mind of FCA regulation

99% of props, including Fintokei, are unregulated. DXZ is supervised by a UK financial authority, so the structural risk of "one day it just shuts down and your money's gone" is lower. Problems like the MyFundedFX incident covered earlier are less likely under FCA regulation.

② No time limit, no profit target

Fintokei requires you to hit a profit target within a deadline in Phase 1/Phase 2, but DXZ lets you "keep trading for as many months as you like, as long as you keep paying the subscription." Anywhere from 0 to 1,000 trades a day — up to you.

③ A dramatically higher theoretical ceiling

Fintokei's ceiling is $400K (roughly ¥60M). DXZ can grow up to €3,000,000 (roughly ¥470M). Nearly 8x the scale, from a long-term view.

④ No "firm vs. trader" conflict of interest

A normal prop's business model runs on failed challengers' fees (i.e., the firm benefits when traders lose). DXZ runs on a subscription revenue model, so DXZ is happy when traders win too (that's what attracts investors to their DARWIN).

⑤ A career path to becoming a professional asset manager

Build up a DARWIN track record and you can also raise capital directly from outside investors (the Become Investable feature). A one-of-a-kind service that lets you build a career as an aspiring hedge fund manager.

DXZ's drawbacks (where Fintokei wins)

① A 15% profit split is one of the lowest in the industry

Fintokei's DPR goes up to 100%, and even the industry standard is 80-90%. DXZ's 15% is dramatically lower. Even with a €500,000 allocation earning 20% a year, your cut is €15,000 (roughly ¥2.3M).

② The €38/month running cost adds up

€456 (roughly ¥70,000) over 12 months, €1,368 (roughly ¥200,000) over 3 years. Compared with Fintokei's one-time payment model, the longer you go, the more expensive DXZ becomes.

③ Not suited to "I want to earn big, fast" (though early-income options do exist)

The GOLD tier (€500K allocation) requires an 8-month track record. SILVER, on the other hand, runs on a monthly ranking, so theoretically you could get an allocation in as little as 2-3 months, and buying a Booster (from €135) lets you secure trading capacity even earlier. Still, the initial amount is limited — €25-100K (roughly ¥4M-15M) versus Fintokei Ruby's ¥10M scale — so anyone who wants to "make it big fast" is far better served by Fintokei.

④ No Japanese support whatsoever

English UI, English support only — the polar opposite of Fintokei's full Japanese support.

⑤ A Trustpilot score of 3.8★ is low for the category

Fintokei scores highly, while DXZ sits at 3.8★ (out of 5). There are negative reviews citing "the subscription is expensive," "spreads are wide," and "a 15% split is exploitative."

⑥ Lower leverage

1:30 for forex (FTMO offers 1:100, and Fintokei is generally 1:30-1:100). Not enough firepower for scalpers or short-term traders.

💰 Payout projections: by monthly return × by time horizon

Let's put real numbers on "so how much can I actually make with each?" We compare Fintokei's flagship Ruby plan (¥10M account) against DarwinexZero across three monthly-return scenarios.

Assumptions for the projections

※ FX rate used: €1 = ¥160. Monthly return = net monthly profit rate. Simple addition, no compounding. Ruby assumes the ideal case of "pass in 1 month → trade from there." Spreads, swaps, and taxes are excluded. ※ The projections below assume the "cautious case where it takes 6 months to reach DarwinIA SILVER." With a Booster purchase (from €135) for instant €25K trading, or SILVER's fastest 2-3 month path, income starts sooner than shown here.

10%¥27.79M¥34.79M¥25.8MRuby slightly ahead

What the numbers tell us

1. Ruby wins decisively short-term (within 1 year)

At 5% monthly, 1 year: Ruby ¥4.33M-5.43M vs. DXZ ~¥690,000 → Ruby is 6-8x. DXZ does have a path to allocation as fast as 2-3 months with SILVER, but the initial trading capacity tops out at €25-100K, so there's little reason to make DXZ your primary vehicle for short-term cash flow.

2. Ruby still wins long-term (3 years), but DXZ closes the gap as monthly returns rise

At 10% monthly, 3 years: DXZ ¥25.8M vs. Ruby ¥27.79M (DXZ reaches 93% of Ruby). DXZ's strength is its structural edge of linearly scaling a single strategy up to €500K-€3M. Ruby caps out at ¥10M — you'd need a separate account to grow further.

3. At the same amount of capital deployed, Ruby wins by a wide margin

  • 4 Ruby accounts (¥40M total), 5% monthly, 100% split = roughly ¥22M/year
  • DXZ GOLD €300K (roughly ¥45M equivalent), 5% monthly = roughly ¥5.2M/year

At the same scale, Ruby earns roughly 4x what DXZ does. That's the numerical proof behind "DXZ's 15% split is the lowest in the industry."

4. Whether DPR applies makes a ¥1-3M/year difference

Fintokei's Dynamic Performance Reward (DPR), introduced in January 2026, raises the split up to 100%. Comparing max DPR vs. the standard 80%, at 5% monthly over 1 year, the difference is roughly ¥1.1M. Once you go Funded, trading with an eye on maximizing DPR matters.

Conclusion: your best fit, by type

Your typeRecommended strategy
Cash flow within 3-12 months is your top priorityRuby, no question. DXZ loses on cost
A 3+ year, long-term investorRuby as the main play + €38/month DXZ in parallel as a hedge
Already proven at Fintokei etc., want to scale upMultiple Ruby accounts in parallel (up to 4) is strongest
Steady 2-3% monthly typeRuby, no question (DXZ is close to break-even even after 3 years)
Spiky 10%+ monthly typeDXZ is worth considering too (potential for over ¥25M in 3 years)

Ruby wins decisively on real income; DXZ wins on long-term career-building. "Do both" is the right answer for intermediate traders and up.

"So which one should I pick?" — a scenario-based guide

🎯 Choose Fintokei if you...

  • Want reliable cash flow within 3-6 months
  • Want Japanese support / LINE-equivalent help
  • Want to aim for a split above 90%
  • Want the flexibility of "fail and just buy another challenge"
  • Trust "industry track record / payout history" more than "FCA regulation"

🎯 Choose DarwinexZero if you...

  • Are aiming, long-term (1+ years), to genuinely build an asset management business
  • Already have a winning strategy and simply want to scale up your capital
  • Have already maxed out the biggest plans at Fintokei etc. and are looking for "the next ceiling"
  • Dislike the pressure of time limits and profit targets
  • Are cautious and prioritize a regulated environment above all else

🎯 Using both together

The most efficient use, for anyone with a proven track record.

  • Short-term cash flow via Fintokei: reliably cash out month by month
  • Long-term scaling via DXZ: aim for €3M over 6+ months
  • DXZ's fixed €38/month cost is easily absorbed as "a few percent of your Fintokei income"

5 things Japanese traders should know before starting with DXZ

① Deposits and withdrawals are both in EUR

It's EUR-centric, not USD. We recommend having a Wise or Revolut EUR account ready.

② Works with MT4/MT5 — use your existing EA as-is

An EA built for Fintokei runs on DXZ with virtually no porting cost.

③ Tax treatment is miscellaneous income (aggregate taxation)

Same as Fintokei. Filing a tax return is mandatory for Japanese residents. See the prop firm tax guide 2026 for details.

④ Even if your DARWIN attracts investors, your cut is still the same 15%

If, at the GOLD tier, "an investor puts in €100K," you also get 15% of the profit generated from that €100K. The 15% rate applies uniformly regardless of who the capital came from (DXZ or an investor).

⑤ Futures traders need an extra $6/month

Not required if you're forex-focused, but trading futures (ES, NQ, etc.) needs an additional subscription.

Conclusion: our final recommendation for Japanese traders

Treating DXZ as a "replacement for Fintokei" is a mistake. The two are complementary services.

Use caseRecommended firm
Short-term cash flowFintokei (SwiftTrader plan) 🎁
Long-term scaling (up to €3M)DarwinexZero
Japanese support is top priorityFintokei
Regulatory peace of mind is top priorityDarwinexZero
Scaling up an existing strategyUse both

If you're already Funded at Fintokei and earning over ¥2M a year, we strongly recommend adding DXZ. For a proven trader, €38/month is cheap as "an investment in a trading environment."

On the other hand, if you're a beginner trying a prop firm for the first time, Fintokei is the clear choice. Given Japanese support, quick cash-out, and track record, DXZ is too complex as a first option.

    • "At least 6 months minimum to earn income" → corrected to "DarwinIA SILVER is a monthly ranking, so allocation is possible in as little as 2-3 months"
    • Added a new section on the Booster program (paid Zero Boosters / free €25k relief slot)
    • Clarified precisely that DarwinIA GOLD requires an 8-month track record
    • Noted that the projection tables assume the "cautious case," and that using a Booster can bring income even earlier

A head-to-head comparison of Breakout Prop, the Kraken-backed crypto prop firm, against Fintokei, the firm that runs end-to-end in Japanese. The fee as a percentage of account size is nearly identical (Breakout Pro 0.545% vs. Fintokei Sapphire 0.549%), but the substance is opposite. Breakout has just two rules — daily loss and max drawdown — with no consistency rule, no minimum trading days, and no per-trade risk cap, but its max drawdown is a narrow 3–6%. Fintokei has a wide 10% max drawdown, but a cap on floating loss at 3% of balance applies to the sum of all open positions. Looking at target ÷ max drawdown, how easy it is to pass differs by 1.7x to 3.3x. Measured on both official sites on September 16, 2026.

E8 Markets' E8 Pro (static DD 8%, daily 2.5%, daily profit cap 2%, payouts are 50% of profit and the fail line moves to the starting balance) and E8 One (dynamic DD 6% locked at the starting balance, daily 4%, target 9%, 40% consistency rule in Performance stage) both cost $488 at $100K — $366 with code E8. The answer depends on the shape of your P&L. Traders firing multiple times a day to smooth out returns come out ahead with Pro in Monte Carlo (4.5x vs 1.4x at zero edge). Traders who trade once a day and earn most of their profit from a handful of big days come out 2–7x ahead with One in real-data tests (+¥3.09M/+¥5.85M vs +¥630K/+¥1.37M per year). Fintokei's SwiftTrader plan was revised on July 15, 2026, to a 6% target, -2% daily loss, -3% overall loss, a 60-day time limit, and a 90% split. ¥20M for ¥93,800 looks cheaper than the challenge plan, but priced per ¥10,000 of loss allowance it's ¥1,563 versus ¥549 — 2.85x — and target ÷ loss allowance is 2.0 versus 0.8. In a Monte Carlo simulation, a high-frequency trader firing 3 times a day has a region where SwiftTrader wins below 0.5% risk per trade, but running the real "once a day" strategy through it shows -¥360K to -¥560K a year at 0.5%, with the 60-day window expiring 5 times a year. Run through the challenge plan, FTMO 2-Step, and E8 One with the same strategy, SwiftTrader comes in at 3-4x worse. It's overpriced for most people, and only makes sense for a narrow slice of high-frequency, high-win-rate traders.
