[September 2026] I calculated FundedNext Futures' expected value — VPS and automated trading are explicitly allowed; go Legacy with an edge, Flex without one

Published: 9/23/2026Updated: 9/23/2026

Note: prices and rules were confirmed on FundedNext Futures' official help center (helpfutures.fundednext.com) and pricing page on September 23, 2026. The figures are Monte Carlo simulation results and don't guarantee future performance.

TL;DR

  • At zero edge, go with Flex $50K. At 0.30 lots, that's +$1,388/year (58% probability of ending positive). The other 3 plans are negative at zero edge
  • With an edge, go with Legacy $50K. Once you've banked 30 profitable days, you can withdraw 100% of your profit, and the per-withdrawal cap is a large $6,000. At "medium" edge, 0.30 lots comes to +$21,554/year
  • It doesn't reach FTMO Futures Pro $50K. At the same 0.30 lots and zero edge, FTMO is +$4,836 vs. Flex's +$1,388
  • VPS and automated trading are explicitly allowed by the official rules. If you're running an EA in the cloud, this is its biggest strength
  • Every plan is a one-time purchase, no activation fee, unlimited resets. But Flex and Rapid end the account after 5 payouts

Common to all plans:

  • Max loss is a close-based trailing rule (though it's judged including floating loss). It stops at the starting balance for Legacy, and at the starting balance + $100 for the others
  • The evaluation has no minimum trading days and no deadline. Violating the evaluation's consistency rule doesn't fail you — it just raises the target
  • Max loss after a withdrawal: fixed at the starting balance + $100 for Flex, fixed at the starting balance for Legacy
  • Daily forced close-out is at 3:10 PM CT (5:10 AM JST in summer / 6:10 AM JST in winter, the next morning). No overnight holding
  • Up to 5 funded accounts after passing. Japan is not on the restricted-country list

All prices are the discounted values shown on the official site (FNFLEX for Flex, RAPID for Rapid).

Automated trading and VPS

FundedNext Futures explicitly permits both automated trading and VPS in its official help center.

you are allowed to use automated trading systems such as Expert Advisors (EAs) and trading bots during both the Challenge and on FundedNext Accounts

A trader may use a VPS (Virtual Private Server) or VPN (Virtual Private Network) while trading on both the Challenge and the FundedNext Account.

What's banned is HFT, grid trading, unusually tight brackets (placing take-profit/stop-loss extremely close together), tick scalping, and hedging across accounts. Copying between your own accounts is allowed. If profit from trades closed in under 10 seconds exceeds 40% of your total profit, that profit gets deducted.

Assumptions

Same as the FTMO Futures expected-value article.

  • One trade per trading day on micro gold (MGC). At a 0.6% stop-loss, a loss on 0.10 lots (1 MGC contract) is $262
  • Same lot size on the evaluation and the funded account. 1 year (252 trading days)
  • On failure, reset. If you lose the funded account, or hit the withdrawal-count cap and the account ends, rebuy
  • Fees assumed at $1.82 round-trip per MGC contract (FundedNext doesn't publish micro fees, so this is an assumption)
  • Profit left in the account after 1 year doesn't count
  • Since Rapid Daily's daily loss is a "stops trading that day" type, lot size is capped so a single loss fits within $1,000 (up to 0.30 lots)

Result 1: annual expected value at a uniform 0.30 lots

EdgeFlexLegacyRapid ProRapid Daily
−0.04R−$55−$2,452−$1,909−$2,477
Zero edge+$1,388 (58%)−$754−$504−$1,013
Small (50% win rate, 1.2 R:R)+$6,589 (90%)+$6,219+$2,747+$3,359
Medium (55% win rate, 1.2 R:R)+$13,694+$21,554+$8,367+$9,984
Strong (60% win rate, 1.2 R:R)+$21,439+$39,407+$14,646+$17,998

Parentheses are the probability of ending positive. "Strong" is a reference level of making 80R a year on one trade a day — essentially nobody hits this in reality.

  • Flex is the only plan positive at zero edge. It's cheap at $69.99, with a 95% split. But the max loss is a tight $1,500, and you can only withdraw 50% of profit, capped at $1,500 per withdrawal
  • Legacy pulls ahead once edge is "medium" or better. Once you've banked 30 cumulative profitable days, you can withdraw 100% of profit, with a $6,000 cap and no limit on the number of withdrawals
  • Rapid Pro and Rapid Daily don't scale. Their per-withdrawal cap is a small $1,200, and the account ends after 5 payouts

Result 2: the best setup for each plan

EdgeFlexLegacyRapid ProRapid Daily
Zero edge+$1,388 (0.30)−$580 (0.10)+$265 (0.20)−$625 (0.10)
Small+$6,589 (0.30)+$8,888 (0.50)+$2,855 (0.20)+$3,359 (0.30)
Medium+$13,694 (0.30)+$41,373 (0.70)+$8,833 (0.50)+$9,984 (0.30)

Parentheses are the lot size. The more edge you have with Legacy, the more it pays to size up — at "medium" edge, 0.70 lots (where a single loss is 92% of max loss) reaches +$41,373/year. But that assumes 17 resets a year, and it's a sizing where a single loss nearly ends the account.

Comparison with FTMO Futures and Topstep ($50K, 0.30 lots)

EdgeFundedNext FlexFundedNext LegacyFTMO Futures ProTopstep
Zero edge+$1,388−$754+$4,836+$2,519
Medium+$13,694+$21,554+$26,306+$24,982

On expected value alone, FTMO Futures Pro is ahead. The reasons to pick FundedNext Futures instead are its explicit VPS permission, that it's a one-time purchase with no monthly fee, and that you can hold up to 5 funded accounts (vs. 3 at FTMO).

Caveats

  • Micro contract fees aren't published. This article assumes $1.82
  • There are inconsistencies within the official materials.
    • Rapid's $50K price: help articles show anywhere from $149.99 to $169.99. This article uses the official pricing-page figures ($159.99 / $169.99)
    • How many times Flex's discounted price applies: some pages say "the first 2 times," others say "the first 5 times"
    • Flex's 95% split: whether it's standard or a paid add-on differs by page
  • The terms of service and the help center also disagree.
    • The terms allow "ultra-fast execution strategies," while the help center bans HFT
    • The terms ban "connecting from a different IP without approval," while the help center allows VPN/VPS
  • Live accounts (moved to after a review following 15 payouts) aren't included in this calculation
  • Slippage and profit left in the account after 1 year also aren't included

FAQ

Q. Which plan should you buy?

If you're not confident in your edge, Flex $50K. Even at zero edge, it's +$1,388/year — the only positive one among the 4 plans. If you have an edge, Legacy $50K, where "medium" edge at 0.30 lots comes to +$21,554/year — 1.6x Flex.

Q. How does it compare to FTMO Futures?

FTMO Futures Pro has the higher expected value ($50K, 0.30 lots, zero edge: +$4,836 vs. Flex's +$1,388). FundedNext Futures' advantages are its explicit VPS permission, the one-time purchase, and being able to hold up to 5 funded accounts.

Q. Can you run an EA on a VPS?

Yes. The official help center explicitly states that VPS and VPN are allowed both during the evaluation and after passing. That said, the terms of service also contain a clause banning "connecting from a different IP without approval," so if your setup changes IPs, it's safer to notify support in advance.

[September 2026] Expected Value Summary: 5 Futures Prop Firms Where Self-Built Bots Are Allowed — TradeDay and Topstep Win at Zero Edge, Bulenox/Topstep/Tradeify Win With Edge

A summary comparing $50K accounts at 5 futures prop firms where automated trading is allowed 'self-built only, with conditions' (Bulenox, Tradeify, TradeDay, The Trading Pit, Topstep), run through identical Monte Carlo simulations. At 0.30 lots, one micro gold trade per day, over 1 year: at zero edge, TradeDay Quick Pay Intraday (+$2,522) and Topstep (+$2,519) are tied for the top. At 'medium' edge, Bulenox Qualification (+$25,529), Topstep (+$24,982), and Tradeify Select Daily (+$24,218) lead. None of them reach Category A's (fully automated OK) leader, FTMO Futures Pro (+$4,836 at zero edge). The Trading Pit is the only one that explicitly allows VPS; TradeDay and Topstep ban it.

[September 2026] I Calculated The Trading Pit Futures's (Futures Prime) Expected Value | A $99 One-Time Fee Nets +$1,345/Year at Zero Edge, and Own EAs + VPS Are Explicitly Allowed

I calculated the expected value of The Trading Pit's futures challenge, Futures Prime $50K, with a year-long Monte Carlo simulation from evaluation through payouts. Confirmed on the official futures page and help center on September 25, 2026. $99 one-time fee, $79 reset, 30-day evaluation. At 0.30 lots: +$1,345/year at zero edge, +$21,491/year at 'medium' edge. It's one of the few futures prop firms that explicitly allows both your own EA and a VPS, but its Trustpilot rating is suspended for violating guidelines.

TradeDay Expected Value, Calculated (September 2026) | At Zero Edge, Quick Pay Intraday Nets +$2,522/Year - But Gains Plateau, and VPS Is Banned

We ran a one-year Monte Carlo simulation from evaluation to payout for TradeDay's $50K plans (Quick Pay Intraday, Quick Pay EOD, Fast Pass EOD), a futures prop firm. Confirmed against the official pricing card and help center on September 25, 2026. The monthly fee only applies during evaluation and stops once you pass; there's no activation fee and no daily loss limit. At 0.30 lots and zero edge, Quick Pay Intraday comes out best among Category B firms (self-built automation only) at +$2,522/year. That said, the profit split is 50%, and the sim account is capped at $10,000 in cumulative profit, so even with edge you're looking at only around +$8,000/year. VPS is banned, and so are off-the-shelf bots.

[September 2026] We Calculated BluSky's Expected Value: The 3-Stage Model Favors Propel (30OFF), +$2,988/Year at Zero Edge

We compared the three plans (Launch, Propel, Orbit) at futures prop BluSky Trading using a Monte Carlo simulation run for one year, from evaluation through payout. Verified pricing, reset fees, the Buffer Zone, and payout terms on the official help center and pricing page on September 25, 2026. It's a 3-stage model — Evaluation → Buffer Zone → Sim Funded — and failing the Buffer Zone doesn't send you back to redo the evaluation. At 0.30 lots and zero edge, Propel $50K (code 30OFF brings it to $112/month) is best at +$2,988/year. Orbit's 30-day deadline is a heavy burden, and it comes out negative at zero edge.

[September 2026] Calculating Bulenox's Expected Value: Every Plan Is Now One-Time Payment. At Zero Edge, End-of-Day Momentum Wins; With an Edge, Qualification Wins

A Monte Carlo comparing futures prop firm Bulenox's $50K plans (Qualification and Momentum, each available in trailing and end-of-day variants) over a full year from evaluation through payouts. Confirmed on the official pricing page, help center, and fee schedule on September 25, 2026. The monthly subscription model is gone — every plan is now a one-time payment. At 0.30 lots and zero edge, Momentum (end-of-day) comes out best at +$2,047/year; with 'medium' edge, Qualification leads at +$25,529. Automated trading is allowed only for self-built tools — commercial or shared tools are banned.
